Nurge wooden embroidery Seat Stands have revolutionised the pure enjoyment of all types of embroidery and creative stitching. Whether you like sitting at the table, in a hard chair or in the luxury of a soft armchair, there is suitable Nurge Stand for you.
And now… if you already have a suitable and compatible Nurge Stand – one of these three available head clamps will provide you with a solution to hold your embroidery frame any way you like, so whatever is your preferred working position you will doubt find a suitable adjustment for ultimate comfort whilst creating your next masterpiece.
Whether it’s a standard wooden round hoop, plastic square frame or a snap frame – one of these head clamps will be a solution to adapt your existing compatible Nurge Stand from holding a Hoop into a Snap Frame and vice-versa – thus allowing you to have multiple projects on the go allowing you to quickly and easily switch from working on one project to the next without the need to own any more than one compatible Nurge Stand.
190-A Classic Clamp – This is the original Nurge clamp that has been used since the inception of the first created Nurge Seat Stand and has been a much loved ‘Classic’ for over 20 years. It is still very popular today and Nurge still manufacture 4 different types of embroidery stands that feature this clamp. It will hold all sizes of wooden hoops, typically from 75mm (3”) diameter up to 310mm (12”) – and all depths of hoops 8mm, 16mm or 24mm. The throat of the clamp will open up to a maximum of 16mm and ideal clamping of the hoop can either be from the top to the bottom of the hoop or from the inside to the outside of the hoop. It is also suitable for holding the round, square or oblong plastic embroidery frames which are typically 10mm in depth.
The head of the Classic clamp will hinge up and down through a maximum of 140 degrees to allow you to find the perfect working angle that suits you best. The clamp will also swivel a full 360 degrees to allow you to work on the back of your project without removing the hoop from the clamp.
190-B Robust Clamp – This clamp was designed and introduced by Nurge in 2024 as an upgrade to the 190-A. It has all the features of the Classic clamp but was designed to give a more robust ‘heavy-duty’ feel about how it securely clamps the hoop. The clamp will open out to a maximum of 30mm and has a much wider clamp grip across the outer sector of the hoop. The strong gripping capability of the 190-B makes this clamp ideal to hold deeper embroidery hoops and Quilt Hoops. It will hold bigger Quilt Hoops beyond 310mm (12”) but careful consideration must be taken regarding the weight of your hoop, your fabric and the applied stitch threads to ensure your Stand has the required stability needed to take the total weight of your project.
190-C Unique 2-in-1 Snap Clamp – This is the latest 2026 Nurge clamp which has been uniquely designed so that it can be switched from a Hoop clamp to a Snap Frame clamp. To do this, remove the two screws and simply flip the top and bottom halves of the clamp by 180 degrees and re-insert the screws. This clamp will hold all the same size hoops as the Classic 190-A clamp with the unique ability to also hold Nurge Snap Frames.
